About Daveed ENGAGING with positive energy. Daveed's most striking characteristics are his versatility in musical genres, balanced with his passion for art, music, and life. When asked about what inspires your writing, he stated “my music is part of my emotional diary.” His creative background starts with parents that have long been involved in international music and dance, to which he attributes the multicultural flavors in his songs. His Latvian father-Rafael-was an international folk dance instructor, connoisseur of opera and classical music, a world class athlete, and Daveed’s hero. Daveed and his father would often have duets of American Classics, Rafael on harmonica and Daveed on guitar. His Yemenite mother-Rachael-a former model, singer, and ethnic ballet dancer was teaching folk dancing through her pregnancy with Daveed. This was the recipe that started a creative fire in young Daveed that would only grow and warm the hearts of all those around him. His performance debut began in Kindergarten, continued throughout his academic career in different theatre productions, and in organizing bands that performed mainly cover tunes. The combination of his wanting to create music and take an academic path culminated in Daveed graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s of Science degree in media production, and he did it while holding four jobs. Daveed had the privilege of performing with music legends such as, Itzhak Perlman, Zubin Mehta and sat in regularly with legendary sax player Frankie Scott and his quartet. On the international scene, Daveed also performed in Italy, Israel, and Turkey. His unique ability to connect with people brought him to Iraq in 2003 as part of an international delegation. There he was exposed to a unique style of music that fused together with his past experiences, and inspired the distinctive sounds he shares in his debut album “Seven Shades.” |
